Nevada for Health Care Unveils a Comparison Piece of All the Presidential Health Care Plans
With less than a month to go before voters participate in the first caucuses and primaries, the Nevada for Health Care campaign has released a detailed comparison of the health care plans of the Democratic and Republican candidates for president. The comparison provides information on how each of the plans addresses four key principles for health care reform advocated by Nevada for Health Care Voters, including whether the plan achieves universal coverage, and if it allows for a choice of physicians.
Health Care Voters in Nevada and other early states will be getting together at house parties and caucus workshops to review the comparison. For months, Health Care Voters have pressed the candidates to explain whether their plans would leave out those they say they would cover.

Nevada for Health Care Statewide Tour for Health Care Reform was a Success
Over 12,000 Nevada Voters have pledged to vote only for a presidential candidate that makes health care top priority. For the past several months, Nevada for Health Care Voters have attended presidential candidate events, hosted mock caucuses and been active in communities statewide as part of our efforts to make health care reform a focus for presidential candidates in 2008. The first week of November, Nevada for Health Care visited 17 towns across Nevada. We held health care discussions and educated voters on the caucus process. Voters from Mesquite to Fallon to Ely are eager to get involved and make Nevada's first presidential caucus a success! Now it's up to the candidates that haven't put forth a comprehensive health care plan to step up to the plate if they want to be considered by over 500,000 Health Care Voters nationwide.
Nevada for Health Care Voters will continue to push all presidential candidates to have a comprehensive health care plan. We will also be introducing health care resolutions to town boards, city councils and county commissions statewide. For more information call (702) 920-5914.
Nevada for Health Care Voters Partner Up to Put Kids First
Dozens of Nevadans from around the state gathered for two successful rallies in Las Vegas and Reno calling on Congressman Dean Heller to override the veto of a bi-partisan bill to expand health care for low-income children.
The SCHIP bill would provide $35 billion additional dollars in order for states to help reduce the 9 million children nationwide who go without health insurance. President Bush recently vetoed the bill, and both house of Congress are now set to attempt to override his veto. More than 100,000 children in Nevada go without health care. This bill would expand health care to another 35,000 low-income children in Nevada, and maintain the program for about 30,000 low-income Nevada children who currently receive SCHIP money.
Now Is the Time - The Health Care Crisis Can't Wait
We all know that to truly fix our nation's health care crisis we need national leadership. Seven candidates have produced full, comprehensive health care plans: Democratic candidates Sen. Biden, Sen. Dodd, Sen. Edwards, Rep. Kucinich, Sen. Obama, Gov. Richardson and Sen. Clinton. These plans address how to cover every American, and how to fund the health care plan. Partial plans have been released by Democratic candidate Sen. Gravel and Republican candidates Mayor Giuliani, Gov. Mitt Romney and Sen. McCain. At this late date, no other candidates have released plans. Let's continue to work to ensure health care is the top presidential priority!
